Valerie Narte is a Honolulu-based filmmaker & photographer who brings a distinct, personal lens to every project. Specializing in documentary and music video work, she is a graduate of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa’s Creative Media program, where she trained in video production, screenwriting, and editing before building a career as a camera operator on local films across both documentary and narrative projects.
Narte previously served as Filmmaker-in-Residence at Hawaiʻi Women in Filmmaking, where she mentored emerging filmmakers and helped develop the organization’s video production services. This work culminated in the Reel Wāhine of Hawaiʻi series, broadcast on PBS Hawaiʻi, spotlighting the past and present generations of women filmmakers shaping Hawaiʻi’s film industry.
Her photography has also been published in outlets including The New York Times, NEON Magazin, and Gestalten’s Honolulu: The Monocle Travel Guide.
She is currently available for short documentary and music video work.
